It’s Oktoberfest, all of Munich celebrates. All of Munich? No! In the district of Fröttmaning! In the district of Fröttmaning, FC Bayern has lost another game and is currently more vulnerable than it has been for a long time.

Scene of the match: As a reaction to the early Gladbach lead, Bayern goalkeeper Manuel Neuer wanted to make the match fast in the 16th minute with a goal kick. He rolled the ball forward and played it into the feet of Thiago, who was 20 metres away. He seemed surprised, but lost it to the attentive Gladbach player Jonas Hofmann, who passed it directly to Lars Stindl. The Borussia captain, who returned to the team after a long injury break, did not hesitate long and finished 2-0. Such mistakes are rare at FC Bayern.

The result: A deserved 3-0 for Borussia Mönchengladbach – read the match report here.

The first half: ran for Borussia Mönchengladbach excellent. After less than ten minutes, Bayern defender Niklas Süle lost the ball to Stindl, who directly launched an attack by Borussia. After a double pass with Hofmann, Alassane Pléa passed the ball effortlessly on the Süle and scored 1:0 (10th minute). The 2:0 by Stindl in the 16th minute was the second notable scene before the break.

Robbiläum: Arjen Robben played his 300th compulsory game for FC Bayern today. He had probably wished for a lot of things that evening in a completely different way. The 34-year-old Dutchman could not convince and had to make room for Franck Ribéry after the break.

The second half: It was not necessarily better for FC Bayern, but there were chances. In the 64th minute, Robert Lewandowski and Joshua Kimmich missed Serge Gnabry’s cross in a promising position. Three minutes later, the Pole scored after Kimmich’s pass, but was on the sidelines. In the 70th minute, Florian Neuhaus had the best opportunity for Mönchengladbach in the second run, but missed it. Patrick Herrmann scored 3-0 (88.) shortly before the end.

Cat to the Wiesn end: Tomorrow the Oktoberfest ends in Munich officially. FC Bayern’s sporting record in these two weeks is alarming. It all started so well: „O’zapft is!“ was the motto in the Schottenhamel festival tent on 22 September at noon, „Away victory“ was announced by FC Bayern from Gelsenkirchen in the evening. In the three following Bundesliga matches at Wiesn time, the club scored only one point – at home against Augsburg. Also in the Champions League, after a disappointing performance against Ajaxnur, a draw jumped out. The club scored so badly during the Oktoberfest last 2010 under Louis van Gal.

Susceptible: In search of historical lows, you have to look a little further back if you want to classify the current defensive weakness. FC Bayern scored at least one goal in each of the last seven Bundesliga home games. That was last in the 2008/2009 season.

Lack of consistency: There are reasons for the current defensive weakness: On the one hand, the Munich defence changes from game to game. Only after the success on Schalke Niko Kovac offered the same couple for the second time in a row in the following match against Augsburg with Mats Hummels and Süle. On the other hand, after Rafinha’s and now David Alaba’s retirement, FC Bayern have only one real defender with Kimmich. Gap-fighter Leon Goretzka had to step in and it was obvious to him that this is not his position. TO know more about Fruity Casa, check them out.

Durststrecke: A period of four compulsory games without success is extremely rare in Munich. The last time things looked so gloomy was in April 2017, when the club was left without a win for five games in a row. However, the Munich team played a DFB Cup semi-final against Borussia Dortmund and two Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid.

In the best of company: When we’re talking about Real Madrid: The royals lost earlier this evening to Deportivo Alavés. Real have also been without a win for four games. In Madrid, however, a period of suffering on such a scale was even longer ago, a good 33 years ago.

Deep down: FC Bayern have slipped out of the Champions League ranks due to their home defeat. This happened to the club last on the sixth matchday of last season after a defeat in Hoffenheim. Less than three weeks later, Carlo Ancelotti had to leave his place at the Bayern Bank.

„Everything was there today“

Excitement to the last second: BVB’s success against Augsburg has cost the team a lot of nerves. Coach Favre spoke of a „fantastic game“ – but still criticised his team.

Lucien Favre knocked on his heart, puffed through, smiled and said: „180. That was also an extremely exciting afternoon for the otherwise so cool football teacher from Switzerland. Perhaps the pulse of the coach of Borussia Dortmund was also higher than 180, when Paco Alcácer in the sixth minute of injury time with a directly converted free-kick scored 4:3 for BVB in a spectacular Bundesliga match against FC Augsburg“.

„I was sweaty, had goose pimples and was annoyed in between. Everything was there today,“ said Dortmund’s licensed player boss Sebastian Kehl. His superior, Michael Zorc, who as a player and sports director has been with the club for more than 40 years, even said: „I’ve rarely seen the stadium cook as much as it does from the 90th minute on“.

After Favre had calmed down a bit, he still spoke of a „fantastic game“ with „so many emotions“. But he was also capable of a sober analysis again: „We have to find a better balance. We still have a lot to do on the defensive.“

„Puking in the bucket“

But this afternoon, only the coach of the BVB, who was in love with detail, thought like this. He also survived the tenth compulsory game without defeat. The happy Borussia fans sang of the championship again, as they did last season, when the Dortmund team even had a five-point advantage over second-placed FC Bayern after the seventh matchday and then crashed.

But such memories will only come when the intoxication of victory has vanished in the international break, which Zorc comes in handy: „It’s good that we’re all gaining a bit of distance.“ Augsburg’s Michael Gregoritsch described the game as a roller coaster ride, at the end of which he simply wanted to „throw up in the bucket“. Two times Augsburg had taken the lead, then had balanced to 3:3 to lose through the last action of the game yet.

„We all hoped he’d get it in, and then he’d get it in. Sensational,“ said Marco Reus about Paco Alcácer’s goal. The free-kick was the highlight of his rather short appearance, and the centre forward on loan from FC Barcelona was only substituted after an hour. „He played over 90 minutes in the Champions League against Monaco on Wednesday, for the first time in three years,“ said Favre, who had instead put Maximilian Philipp in the attack.

Alcácer „feels the football“

The former Freiburg player has not scored a single goal in more than seven hours of the Bundesliga this season. Alcácer did not need a complete game for his six goals together. „Unbelievable“, he said about his three goals against Augsburg. But more important for him is the success of the team. In addition, he now wants to quickly go home to his daughter to spend some time with her before he joins the Spanish national team again after a break of more than two years.

„He feels the football,“ said Favre about Alcácer’s gift of running into the room where his teammates find him and he finishes. In seven of the ten compulsory games under the Swiss coach, the BVB scored no goal before the break. All the goals against Augsburg were scored in the second half, just like a week earlier in the 4-2 win in Leverkusen.

The Dortmund team scored only six of the 29 goals under Favre in the first 45 minutes. Also remarkable: the influence of the substitutes. Eight goals and eight templates were the „Joker“ before the game, against Augsburg were a template by Raphaël Guerreiro, three goals by Alcácer and a goal by Mario Götze added.

Götze jersey for Götze

The Mario Götze for whom Favre often didn’t even have a place in the squad. Now he was even allowed to play again, for the first time in this Bundesliga season. Götze was substituted in the 77th minute, seven minutes later he scored to 3:2. The fans of the BVB raved, the biggest story of the game seemed written. It then got a bit smaller.

In the jersey of his opponent Mario Götze stomped up the stairs to the cabin, on his back his last name was emblazoned. It was the jersey of his brother Felix, who had been substituted for the Augsburg team. Just like two match days before in the FC Bayern match, when he had managed to get his first Bundesliga team to the 1-1 final. Dabber Bingo is one of the nicest online bingo sites in the industry.

According to some reports, Felix had outstripped his six-year older brother, the world champion. Mario Götze pointed to his brother’s jersey after the match and said: „That’s the real idol“.

Bavarian collective failure

The dubious appearance in the 3-0 bankruptcy against Gladbach plunged Bavaria into a major crisis. Within two weeks the world in Munich was thrown out of joint. Thomas Müller speaks of a „brutal situation„.

On Sunday, FC Bayern will have to make an annual appointment. The visit to the Oktoberfest. It is the last day of the Wiesn, usually always a cheerful get-together, there are photos with family, traditional costume and beer mug. In the stadium magazine on Saturday there was a review of the past five decades, one saw funny pictures from earlier times. Gerd Müller, Oliver Kahn, Luca Toni, all in a dazzling mood.

It was unthinkable for Joshua Kimmich that the mood would now be as cheerful as it used to be on the eve of the festive visit: „I can’t imagine,“ said the right-back, „that we’ll see many smiling faces there“. Since Saturday evening, after the embarrassing 0:3 against Borussia Mönchengladbach, nobody at FC Bayern is laughing any more.

A situation that seemed unthinkable when the Oktoberfest began on Saturday two weeks ago. The Bavarians poured their opponents at will and won on the first Wiesn day on Schalke 2-0. It was the seventh victory in the seventh compulsory game. But then the world went off the rails, nobody could guess what happened in the four games that followed. As pale and drawn as the players sneaked through the stadium aisles, they looked as if they were going through a creepy and – even worse – never-ending ride with the ghost train on the Wiesn.

At the latest after the lucky 1:1 against Ajax Amsterdam in the Champions League one could have expected a defiant reaction against Gladbach. But instead, the Bavarians were again completely out of concept at an early stage. Two individual mistakes by Niklas Süle and Thiago led to the two goals scored by Alassane Pléa (10th) and Lars Stindl (16th). But even there there would have been enough time to turn the game around. There was a similar situation in the home game at the end of January, when the score against Hoffenheim was 0-2 after twelve minutes. The Bavarians shook themselves briefly and played the opponent angrily against the wall, in the end it was 5:2 for the champion, Hoffenheim was thus well served.

„We have not missed a few chances. We do not have any“

Against Gladbach it looked completely different: hanging heads, resignation, no rebelling. The Munich team seemed to be paralyzed, there were a lot of bad passes, no powerful game structure, which is why the team of coach Dieter Hecking was able to finish the game quite relaxed.

Matthias Ginter was later asked whether the Bavarians had been a grateful opponent that evening. The Gladbacher national player only smiled, out of courtesy to the host he refused a comment. Of course they were a grateful opponent. Because they simply didn’t become dangerous anymore. Even if the Bavarians had chances, it was like in the games against Berlin and Ajax pure coincidence products.

„We have to think about how we can create chances,“ said Joshua Kimmich and added dryly: „It wasn’t like we missed out on a lot of chances. We didn’t have any.“ The right-back then pushed a nice set after when he said: „The defense isn’t the main problem at all, but every shot against us is a goal.“

All in all: Nothing succeeds in the front, everything fails in the back. A Bavarian collective failure.

For Thomas Müller, it’s „a mixture of mistakes and incompetence. We score too few goals acutely, which creates uncertainty. We just have an anti-run. The situation is brutal for us.“ Because they don’t know it like that, because they’re not used to being shown by an opponent in their home arena. „Zero three in Munich,“ said Arjen Robben, „that doesn’t happen often.“

Somehow, they had always managed to get their act together after small setbacks and reactivate the old mia-san-mia feeling, but they are now looking for exactly this self-conception, as if they were going through a great identity crisis. Less mia san mia than rather the question: Who san mia?

There were hardly any concise explanations for the continuing misery and for the disastrous performance on Saturday. After all, Mats Hummels paused briefly and analyzed: „We are with too many players in the harmless rooms. That means we don’t have enough people where it hurts the opponent“. In the penalty area, for example, where experience has shown that the greatest danger of scoring a goal occurs. But even on Saturday Robert Lewandowski was once again lonely and lost there, without any ties to his team-mates he just had twelve ball contacts in the whole game. Niklas Süle spoke of a „black week“ and of a „whirlpool“ that you are currently in. After the Wiesn on Sunday, many players will go to the national team. In the past, the Bavarians always complained during international breaks that this would only interrupt the run they were currently running. Now that’s exactly what they’re hoping for. That they will get out of the vortex after the trip to the DFB. And the horror ride in the ghost train ends quickly.
